During the same period, I presented at the Training Industry Conference & Expo (TICE) on identifying and building strategic capabilities. Benji Wittman, MBA, CPTM Training and Operations Supervisor, Sweetwater Sound Since becoming a CPTM, I have built new training programs and managed emerging initiatives with a sharper focus on business impact. Most notably, I played a key role in our organization’s recent LMS transition, leading the development of a new eLearning initiative for technical skills training and designing curriculum maps and competency frameworks to align learning needs to business processes. I also developed custom scheduling and reporting tools that streamlined in-person training operations, reducing administrative overhead and improving learner progress tracking. These improvements have enabled me to manage thousands of training events over the past few years, enhancing employee onboarding, technical expertise and overall learning effectiveness. Additionally, my expertise in training development, operational strategy and instructional design has led to thought leadership opportunities, including writing industry articles and presenting on experiential learning strategies. |

Valerie Celeste Marsh, CPTM Senior Director, Learning & Development, Jushi Much has changed in my corporate life since becoming a CPTM. I was recruited into a brand-new industry that needed training built from the ground up, with zero historical background to leverage. I was able to use what I learned from the CPTM program to create centralized learning and development teams that were — at my previous company — and are — at my current company — embedded within the organization and viewed as business partners. Additionally, we focus on providing training that is timely, relevant and from which we can show ROI, whether that be through decreased ramp-up time, improved employee or customer satisfaction, or financial measures. |

Justin Roscoe, CPTM Vice President, Learning & Organizational Development, California Credit Union With the achievement of the CPTM credential, I was able to collaborate with my senior leadership team and propose and obtain approval for the idea of implementing a six-month leadership training program, which aligns perfectly with our company’s strategic objectives. After rolling out the program and sharing its benefits and its efficacy with others in the L&D industry, not only was the program recognized as a finalist in the Corporate Learning Network’s 2024 Trailblazer Award, but I personally was recognized as a Top Business Leader Under Forty in San Diego. None of the above (the leadership program or the accolades) would exist without CPTM. |

Summer Sartain-Ritz, CPTM Operations Training & Development Manager, Ole Smoky Distillery, LLC When I began my career in L&D, I didn’t have the traditional background that many in the field possess, but my passion for helping others to learn and grow kept me going. Since earning my CPTM credential, I’ve implemented weekly toolbox talks around safety which foster employee engagement and communication and have led to a noticeable reduction in common accidents on the job. I’m also extremely proud to have successfully launched our LMS for leadership after months of learning and creating new content, with a dedicated space focused on empowering employees to take charge of their own development. Without the knowledge I gained from the CPTM program, this achievement may not have come to fruition so soon! |

Clark Waggoner, CPTM Training Solutions Manager, Geotab Inc. I put my CPTM skills to the test in early 2024, when I assumed leadership of a team who had faced five years of management changes, leading to instability and uncertainty. Utilizing my CPTM knowledge, I was able to gain buy-in from stakeholders to reshape the future of the department, simplifying processes and aligning training initiatives with revenue goals, ensuring that each step supported broader company objectives. These new standards significantly boosted the team’s professionalism and streamlined operations, revitalizing morale and fostering a renewed sense of optimism. My strategic efforts laid a solid foundation for delivering consistent, high-quality service and positioned the team for future growth and success. |

Wade Watson, CPTM Supply Chain Ops Training & Development Specialist, SCA Health I completed the CPTM program aspiring to break into the training world. I don’t have the traditional educational background that most professionals do, but have an extensive training background from my time in the military. For five years, I was having a difficult time overcoming the educational gap and translating my military experience into a training position. However, the skills, competencies and practices I learned in the CPTM program were just what I needed to learn, understand and articulate the core of a successful training organization. I’m proud to say that only two months after obtaining my CPTM certification, I was offered and accepted a training position! |

Joan Montjoy, CPTM Implementation Strategist, FranklinCovey I completed the CPTM program to help get a promotion that I was seeking. My leaders were so impressed that I did this that it opened the doors for me to move into the new role. Once I took the course, I was very pleased that I had learned so much and could honestly say that the CPTM certification was worth the time and expense. Getting the promotion was certainly icing on the cake! |

Artrell Williams, CPTM Manager of Learning and Development, Sumitomo Rubber USA Within a year of completing my CPTM, I have spoken at six in-person and virtual conferences, written an article for ATD magazine and appeared on two podcasts. I have shopped for and implemented a new LMS, created a workforce development curriculum for a non-profit and received a recurring contract to deliver it. I also created a playing card game to teach tire manufacturing processes and won an award for it at TechLearn 2023! I continue to use the concepts from CPTM in a lot of new ways, referring to the content often, even a year later. |
